Description of the Product

Bodices made their appearance in the late Middle Ages and are still a staple of traditional folk fashion to this day. They give the upper body the desired shape and can be worn both under and over the outer clothing. Compared to corsets, bodices (also called corsages back in the days) are less stiff and much more comfortable to wear.

Our lace-up bodice is made of sturdy cotton fabric woven in a twill weave and lined with a thin cotton layer. The added bottom hem - which slightly tapers down at the centre front - emphasises the waistline in a lovely manner and creates a nice, flush transition with the underlying garment. The lacing at the front and at the lower back allows for a perfect, individual fit. The tie strings are equipped with metal tips that help threading them through the eyelets.

When combined with a blouse and a skirt or trousers, this bodice is ideal for many different outfits, from maidservant to pirate.

To find the right size take your measurements correctly, wrapping the measuring tape horizontally around your body at the fullest part. For this bodice, sizes are based on chest circumference. Ease of wear is already included in the pattern.
