Antiqued Viking Axe

Description of the Product
The axe was a poor man’s weapon during the Viking Era; an axe for woodwork could be found in every household. The categorization into a weapon or a tool is not always simple, but generally if the axe is to be used as a tool, the blade is often wedged and thick. Although the excess weight of a thicker blade made the axe slower in battles, it also gave it heft and made it capable of cleaving helms and armour with impunity. The longer shaft made it possible to get more force and reach into the blows. Chopping wood with an axe like this was efficient as the thick wedged blade doesn’t get stuck as easily as thinner blades.
This antiqued Viking Axe is of a typical Viking pattern and style. The semi heavy axe features a carbon steel head with a sharp tempered edge and a hardwood shaft. The blade is medium thick meaning that it is multifunctional and can be used as a battle axe as well as in woodwork and splitting small firewood. The blade has been antiqued for a more authentic look. Made to be used, with this axe in hand you can feel like the Viking settlers of old just chopping wood in your backyard. A leather sheath to protect you and the edge is included.
