Description of the Product

Bardiche (also called Berdiche) is a two handed pole weapon that normally had a heavy and large steel head/blade. The first bardiches were used in the late 14th century, the weapon came a bit more common during 15th century and it was at its most popular during the 16th and 17th centuries. The bardiche was mainly a slavic weapon, used in eastern Europe and Russia, but it was also used in Scandinavia, Germany, Switzerland, as well as around Turkey and in the Middle East. The bardiche developed from the large two handed danish axe favoured by the vikings. The transitional weapon between the dane axe and the bardiche was the Sparth axe, which was very similar to the bardiche and was already in use during the 1250’s.

When practicing with steel weapons it is vitally important to make sure that sufficient and proper protective gear is worn and that all the equipment is in good condition. In order to avoid accidents remember to stay careful and controlled in all circumstances.

This weapon has been made with the regulations and needs of HMB (Historical Medieval Battle), MCS (Medieval Combat Sport), Buhurt and other Battle of the Nations -type heavy full contact combat sports in mind. Made to withstand extremely hard use. Will withstand the strains of battle by martial artists, reenactors and stage performers as well as combat on any HMB-field. Forged of 51CrV4 carbon steel, and tempered to around HRC 50-52. The edges and points are thick and rounded for better nick resistance and safety.
