Description of the Product
From the Celts of 300BC to 18th century Asia, mail was one of the most prized items a warrior could own. The "Foe of Swords'" probably derived the name "mail" from the Latin "Macula" meaning net. This coif features 1.6mm thick steel (16 gauge) links in the "international" pattern - 4 links through a 5th - common to all European mail. Faithfully copied from examples in museums and private collections, it can be worn with or without a helmet.
Chain mail is very durable, but due to its flexibility a forceful blow could cause bone fractures or contusions even if lacerations were avoided. That is why thick padding was always used under mail. Also a hard helmet was often used on top of the coif, although it was often also used as such.

Rengashaarniskahuppu oli sitä mitä odotinkin.
Laatu vaikuttaa noin 12 tunnin käytön jälkeen hyvältä, ja vaikka huppu on järkyttävän painava kun sitä pitää kädessä, niin päähän laitettuna sen paino jakautuu niin hyvin, että sitä jaksaa ongelmitta pitää päässä pitkiäkin aikoja. Jos alla käyttää täältäkin hankittavissa olevaa kypärän alle tarkoitettua huppua, niin rengashaarniskahuppu ja kypärä istuvat päähän kuin valettuna. Itse kuitenkin kuuman sään johdosta pidin alla tunikan huppua, joka on ohuempi, mutta ei niin kuuma auringonpaisteessa.
Ilman pehmustehupun käyttökin kokonaisuus toimii hyvin, mutta pehmustehupun kanssa erinomaisesti.
Kaikki renkaat olivat asiallisesti kiinni kuten pitääkin, ja viimeistely hyvää. Hinta-laatusuhde erittäin hyvä jos tällaiselle on käyttöä.
Itselleni kyseessä on vain asun osa, eli en osaa ottaa kantaa siihen, että kuinka huppu suojaa esimerkiksi jossain buhurtissa.
