About Middle Ages Armor
Armor played an important role in protecting knights and soldiers on the medieval battlefields. Chainmail served as a flexible protection, fitting easily to various body shapes, and it was especially effective against slashing attacks. Plate armor emerged later, consisting of metal plates shaped to cover the body and hence offering superior protection. Battle gauntlets and vambraces protected the hands, leg armor and greaves safeguarded the legs, and sabatons protected the feet.
A fully armored knight was an awe-inspiring sight during the Middle Ages, commanding both respect and admiration. Armor also served as a symbol of a knight’s power and influence in medieval society.
